The Hmar People

The people of the Hmar tribe of northeast India were once fierce headhunters, infamous for their vicious slayings. But in 1910, Welsh missionary Watkin Roberts sent the Gospel of John to a Hmar chief.

The chief invited Roberts to come and explain the Scriptures. He went despite a ban by the British Colonial rulers, and five young tribesmen chose to follow Jesus.

The converts grew in faith and became leaders of a new, energetic church. Within two generations, the entire Hmar tribe was evangelized. Headhunting stopped and "heart-hunting" began. Read More

Endless Worship T-shirt Design

I believe i have been away from blogging for quite sometime now. But hey, im back :D. I guess i am being lazy and was aswell enjoying my holidays. We had two weeks break on account of Diwali and it was worth it. During those breaks, I got this invitation from Brother Athui ( EndlessWorshipTeam ) requesting if i can in some way do a favour for the team in terms of designing. It was my pleasure and was much excited to do the same. Here are the designs i made for them T-shirt. It was a multi purpose design and i din't really know where and how they will use and it is upto them at the same time to use where they like to. And i heard that they will be using the back design in their upcoming Youth Camp at Hmarkhawlien from Dec 11-14 '14.Lets do pray for them aswell. I felt really good about this project for i know the purpose and motive of the team. They are awesome people doing their best in organizing worship services and sincere people in praising the almighty. I believe they will be blessed and a blessing for many in days to come.

Modelling in Maya 2014

Hello !! I'm Back after a long one month semester break. With the new semester in hand getting to know Maya, I have this first assignment on bg modelling. As this is the first time i am using Maya, i sure din't know the heck i am doing. But with practice you can do lots of it. Believe it ! :) .In this model very simple tools are used, mostly the *extrude and *insert new loop to selection tool. And yes i use a reference from google with some modification of my own. I used photoshop to create glasses , add few clouds and color modification stuffs. I am hoping to create more and more new composition with this magnificent software i am about to learn . One Step Higher

" Well, i don't know much to write but just wanted to add few lines.Firstly, i appreciate friends requesting me to make sketches out of their pictures. And thanks to all of you guys that as you can see today, i'm achieving something different unlike my previous try-outs. And as for those whose potraits i haven't, i do remember and it will be done soon :D As you look the above image, it is more realistic as i've started to excel in depths ( but just a scratch of it).
Secondly, Phew!, it took me the whole night (my night usually starts at 11/12, so no big deal), completed by 8 in the morning, which will not be the issue soon when i improve :D. For now il stick to it, saying" What can be more pleasing than doing whats fun :D?. As usual i uses round hard and soft brush, implemented with my bamboo tablet on Photoshop."

Hmar is the name of one of the numerous Mizo/Kuki/Chin tribes of India, spread over a large area in the northeast. The Hmars belong to the Chin-Kuki-Mizo group of tribes, and are recognized as Scheduled Tribe under the 6th Schedule of the Constitution of India. They are a small community of less than 100,000 in Assam, although there are more in Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. (source-wiki).

Infography - A Graphic Designers Pipeline

Oh well, here is my first Infographic Creation on the topic " Pipeline for a Graphic Designer". It is an assignment given to us. I give my thank's to Ratan Sir for this, as it help me in discovering so many new stuffs. It took me 2 nights to complete the designing. Long back i did my research on the steps which i can compromise and use. Finally found a perfect reference here. The next step here was the elements i am to used in representing the flow. I tried my best to do it on my own, meaning not to depend on easily available download icons. As we know there are more than enough icons and graphics available for use. I look for it though, since shapes were quite limited in Adobe Photoshop. The beautiful box on top containing heading Infography and at the bottom, that small box containing APPROVED are downloaded ( medialoot and pixedon ) and used. I claim no credits for those two. The rest are all customize and made in photoshop, plus the custom shape available in it are quite handy here. As this is my first creation it made me so happy, though it contain so many imperfections :D

Firstly, I would like to introduce the fonts i used in this art.
Signarita Zhai, Leftheria, Construthinvian, Dense, Vodka

And secondly into the sketching. The textures appearing here are obtained by applying filters as follow:

Inner t-shirt- FG -sponge

Top shirt- FG-rough pastel

Pants- FG-Film grain

Skin- add noise(very small amount)

Today in my post, I've attached the .psd file (download) in case it might be useful to anyone in any possible way.Here, you will be able to see the layers i worked on.

The steps used in this project is as usual, firstly making an outline sketch from reference if available, round brush -hard and soft, dragging the opacity and flow when necessary, multiple layers for each and so on.

In the art is a composition of few lines dedicated to whoever feel lost, beaten, weak and down. It goes like this,

The world goes on, Time goes by, People come and go, Good days versus bad days. In the end nothing really matter. The only thing that matter, How you deal with what matters. EVERYTHING'S GONA BE ALRIGHT.Why the earth goes round and round ?, Trying hard to kick your butt, don't let it happen. HAVE FAITH.

I'm grateful i can make this work and post it though i'm quite unwell.It is the love of art which is driving me around i believe. And also Riryn, tq for the photo that i could work on.
